AboutWhat the Cooking Club is

Cooking classes for ages 4-15 where children explore Japanese culture and cook together with local kids in a friendly setting. Six times a year in Okinawa City.Open to everyone. You don't need to be a Churakids student, and our staff speak English.

Food

Cook it, then eat it

Children make a seasonal dish from scratch, then everyone eats together.

Skills

Knives and heat, from the first time

Holding a knife, handling heat. Staff stay beside the tricky parts.

Culture

Local kids and kids from overseas

Kids from Okinawa and abroad share one table. Cooking is the common language.

FAQFAQ

Do we need to be Churakids members to participate?

No, you don't need to be a member. Everyone is welcome to join.

Is it okay if my child doesn't speak Japanese?

Absolutely. The class is designed so children can enjoy cooking and interacting even without speaking Japanese. Staff can support in English and Japanese.

How do you handle food allergies?

Please inform us when applying. We will do our best to accommodate, but complete removal or substitution may not always be possible. Please feel free to contact us for more details.

Can parents observe the class?

To maintain a relaxed learning environment, we kindly ask parents not to observe the class. Staff will support your child throughout the session.

What should we bring?

Please bring a water bottle. Aprons and hair covers are provided. Children with long hair should bring a hair tie.

Can we get a refund if we cancel?

Cancellations made at least 3 days before the event are fully refundable. Cancellations after that date cannot be refunded. As we prepare ingredients in advance, please let us know as early as possible if you need to cancel.

Is parking available?

Yes, parking is available at the venue.

Can children take home the food they cook?

Most dishes are enjoyed in the classroom. Some recipes may be taken home depending on the menu and food safety considerations. Please check the event details for each session.
